Dedicated reefer logistics

Our vessels are capable of carrying cargo inside temperature-controlled holds, maintained at between −20°C and +15°C. Each hold is divided into 2–3 cooling sections, allowing different cargo types to travel at different temperatures simultaneously — for example bananas at +13.3°C alongside apples at +1.0°C.

Our fleet can accommodate from 4,500 to 6,500 pallets in holds per vessel. Most vessels are also equipped with Controlled Atmosphere (CA) systems — regulating oxygen, carbon dioxide and nitrogen levels to extend the shelf life of the most demanding perishables.

All cargo holds are fitted with control sensors transmitting real-time temperature data to onboard computers, with 24/7 crew monitoring throughout every voyage.

Ventilation

They are also equipped with vents that allow fresh air to circulate freely — preventing moisture build-up and contributing to the outflow of CO₂ and ethylene. This is critical for sensitive cargo like green vegetables, pears and apples, where excess ethylene can cause premature ripening and tissue discolouration.

Reefer Container Services

All Cool Carriers vessels carry reefer containers on deck in addition to hold cargo — offering up to 6,400 additional pallet positions per vessel. Our modern reefer containers are equipped with telematic systems and GPS monitoring, so we always know the exact location and current parameters of every container. We control delivery and return temperatures throughout transit to ensure the cold chain remains unbroken from pick-up to delivery.
