Responsibility

Cool Carriers has spent decades connecting key fruit growing countries and regions with markets across the globe.

Today, we are focused on doing so more responsibly. Every new vessel in our fleet renewal programme is designed to deliver greater efficiency and a lower environmental footprint than the vessel it replaces. We apply the same high standards to our operations at sea that our customers expect across their supply chains, supported by clear targets that guide our progress and reflect our ambitions for the future.

Our ESG priorities

Shipping connects the world — and with that comes responsibility. Cool Carriers supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, with a particular focus on clean and affordable energy, climate action and the long-term health of our oceans. These commitments shape how we operate, invest and plan for the future.

Strategy

We are committed to reducing carbon emissions by 40% by 2030.

40%Lower carbon intensity
Target 2030 · 2008 baseline
25%CO₂ reduction per vessel
Target 2028
15%Fuel saving
Target 2026

Our strategy focuses on four key areas: fleet renewal and efficiency upgrades; the transition to lower-carbon fuels and fuel-flexible technologies; smarter voyage operations through weather routing, speed optimisation and just-in-time arrival; and transparent emissions management and reporting in line with EU ETS and other regulatory requirements. Clear targets guide our progress across each area.

A multidimensional approach

Fleet modernisation

Each new generation of vessels is designed to deliver greater energy efficiency and lower carbon intensity than the vessels it replaces. Our fleet renewal programme has already contributed to a measurable reduction in fleet-wide CO₂ intensity.

Anti-fouling

We use high-performance anti-fouling coatings and proactive hull maintenance to minimise biofouling and reduce hydrodynamic resistance, helping our vessels maintain fuel efficiency throughout their operating cycle.

Cold ironing & operational optimisation

Where compatible infrastructure is available, equipped vessels can connect to shore power while alongside, reducing the need for onboard power generation. At sea, weather routing, voyage optimisation and speed management help reduce fuel consumption and associated emissions.
